Oddball Update

Dateline: January 12th, 2:57pm. My cell phone rings. It’s the Pontiac dealer. “Guess why I’m calling?” says Roger. My GTO has arrived, and they’ve just taken off the plastic wrap.

Got an update from the dealer today. Literally everything is in place except for the car. I even have the stock number. They weren’t able to locate the order expiration date.

Here it is going on January 6th and no posts from me since New Year’s Day, so I thought I’d update you all — even though there’s nothing to update, really.

With my Trans Am sold, there’s nothing standing in the way of me getting my new GTO. Nothing, of course, except the GTO actually arriving.

Everything went smooth as silk today with the transfer of ownership.

Remember how I posted a few weeks ago about the first kid who came to look at my Trans Am with his grandmother in tow? Back when I had it stickered at $16,500? And who then disappeared from the radar after failing to return my subsequent calls?

I found a buyer for my Trans Am. He’s offered me $11,250 and will be flying down from Virginia Beach this Friday morning to pick it up and drive home, assuming it passes muster anyway.

Okay, so if you just read my big exciting tale of being “Denied!” a decent trade-in value for my Trans Am, you know that I was walking around with “mortified pride” (hey, didn’t they commit people for that in the forties?) about my current predicament.

As you may have read here on the site in the last few days, it looks like my ‘06 GTO will be arriving at the dealer quite a bit earlier than originally anticipated. Of course, none of this was ever an exact science.
