Oddball Update

Front page headline of today’s Detroit Free Press: “How Plans Went Sour For Ford’s Turnaround: Gas Prices Dent Truck Sales”. Am I the only one smacking my head against the wall after reading this?

News in the automotive sector today is that Carlos Ghosn, the egomaniacal CEO of both Nissan North America and Renault, says he isn’t interested in anything other than a full-blown, three-way alliance between the two aforementioned companies and General Motors.

A comment I just submitted to my last entry reminded me of an old post I started writing several years ago, but never got around to finishing.

Good thing I didn’t wait longer to pick up my new car — starting with GTOs produced in February, Holden deleted the hidden accessory connector that allows you to add the cool sports gauge pod to the top of the dash.

I thought the Holden plant in Australia was going to keep building the GTO through August, as they did last year, but apparently I was wrong.

Apple and I spent the morning hauling another huge load of recyclables and trash to the local recycling center, or as I affectionately call it, “the dump.” We used my boss’ truck to transport all the goods.

Playing right into my previous entry, this article on CNN today backs up my opinion that American cars are what they are because of their unique style and soul, not because of where they’re built.

CNN’s “QuickVote” polls, which they offer on their website for the public to take, are often of questionable value, or at least questionable objectivity.

Apple and I conducted a fun picture-taking session this evening after dinner, and the result is a new gallery of GTO photos highlighting the new window tint I just had installed.

The replacement spoiler I ordered for my GTO (after losing the original one in a careless accident) arrived this morning, and during the evening I got it installed.
