Oddball Update

Pontiac’s not the only car company making headlines today. Ford has announced that they majorly screwed up by abandoning the brand equity they’d built up (and then torn down, naturally) in the Taurus nameplate.

At the Chicago Auto Show today, Pontiac unveiled its all-new G8 sedan, the 2008 model year replacement for the Grand Prix.

I drove up to the community “mail center” tonight to drop a Netflix DVD in the mail.

I’ve done some stupid things in my time — like backing my new GTO’s spoiler into the garage door — but none of it even comes close to what one eager 14 year old managed to accomplish behind the wheel of his dad’s new Mustang GT500E “Eleanor” edition.

I thought I had finally found Florida’s own Red Holman Pontiac. That is, a Pontiac dealer that I could actually trust not to screw me when I needed a new car. That dealer was McNamara Pontiac in Orlando.

Attempting to honor my “I’ve gotta get out more” remarks of a few weeks ago, today I got together with Mike, a fellow 2006 GTO owner and member of the LS1GTO message boards who came across me quite by accident.
