Success?

In a startling display of quickness, apparently my Xbox 360 has been repaired. I missed the first attempted delivery by UPS earlier, but will be on the lookout for it tomorrow. Of course, had Microsoft actually e-mailed me that my repairs were complete (like they said they would), I would have known to be on the lookout today. Unfortunately, they only sent me an e-mail when my unit finally made it to the repair center. But when I checked my system’s status on the Xbox home page today, it reported that my machine is under its new limited warranty and is no longer under repair.

Speaking of shipping — I dropped my Xbox off at the UPS store on March 14th, and it took an entire week to get to the Xbox repair center (heck, it took three days until it left Illinois). However, upon checking the tracking number of my new shipment, it seems my repaired unit took only two days to ship from Texas to here. What goes?

Anyhow, hopefully by this time tomorrow I’ll have a working Xbox 360 again, and finally be able to find a use for the awesome birthday presents Chief Oddball and Reaper got for me.

  1. Awesome! That was damn fast!

As for the shipping times, I believe the prepaid shipping label they give you with the empty box is standard ground service. But when they send the repaired (or refurbished) console back to you, they use 3-Day Select service, so it’s quicker. That’s if I remember right.

If everything gets up and running, you might even be available for an online game this weekend. Sunday is our usual gaming day. :) I had to cancel last weekend because I was working, but this weekend I’m setting aside some game time.

  2. You’re probably right about the shipping. It was definitely sent ground when I packed it away, at least.

I was surprised how fast it was. I mean, they only got the thing last Friday, and the Xbox page says it takes up to 10 business days (i.e. two weeks) to fix. I guess my 360 died at just the right time! I’m especially surprised at the quick turnaround because of the whole Easter holiday occurring right when my 360 arrived at the repair center.

I may or may not head out to Reaper’s this weekend, so one way or another we might be able to have some gaming fun. Unless my brand new wireless adapter decides to be a pain. Knowing my luck, something will go wrong — I assume nothing good when it comes to electronics.

  3. So I guess this means we’re playing Forza on Sunday? :D

  4. I’d be game for that! :D Although to be honest, I haven’t touched Forza since we last played online — too many other games I’ve been into! Call of Duty 4, for example, seriously rocks — although right now it’s pissing me off big-time. I guess I can only blame myself: I chose the “Hardened” difficulty setting.

Speaking of Forza, the March car pack is out now. Nothing in it really grabs me, but I might give it a purchase. At least I bought all those track packs finally!
