Sci-Fi HD is Here. But is it Really HD?
Comcast just launched Sci-Fi Channel HD in our area. On the surface, this is awesome because it means I can catch the final season of Battlestar Galactica in glorious high-def. However, it doesn’t look like this channel actually airs anything in HD — it’s all upconverted SD. What the hell is the point?
I’m still looking into it, but I can barely find any information on this channel.
Edit: Looks like some programming on Sci-Fi HD is in HD, but most of it isn’t. First-run episodes of big series like Battlestar should be in HD, though, but as the channel only recently launched, we’ll have to wait and see how it pans out.
