   I just finished Sander Cohen’s level for the second time (I’m going through on Hard difficulty now).

   I think it’s fair to say that I like this game.

   Did you find the iron sights? I just learned about this today! If you press down on the right analog stick (when you’re using a firearm, not the camera), you bring up the weapon and look down the sights. Unfortunately I didn’t learn about this until my boss took his Xbox home.

   I particularly enjoyed the System Shock 2 references, very teeny tiny as they might have been. Like the signboard at Fontaine Fisheries that said “Safety is Everyone’s Responsibility!” (Something Xerxes used to say continuously on the Von Braun.) As well as the log by that one doctor who was doing something to the guy they tested the Rage plasmid on, and the patient went nuts…you can hear the doctor yelling “Nurse, hold him down!” and then a bloodcurdling death scream. This was exactly like the audio log of Crewman Watson’s autopsy left behind by Dr. Watts on the Von Braun.

   My boss (another old-school System Shock 2 fan) was hoping there’d be a SHODAN reference, but I told him that EA owns the rights to that name and it wasn’t gonna happen. Still, we were having a good time giggling every time we listened to a random woman’s audio diary. “That must mean…SHE’S REALLY SHODAN! BWAHAHAHAHA!”

   I should go into more detail about what I liked about the game…a full-fledged post. I just feel weird doing that until I can actually play it on my own system. Fah! I want it back!

   Yeah, I knew about the iron sights/clicking the right thumbstick thing…but I really don’t use it, though, except when I’m using the crossbow and trying to snipe someone (which isn’t really often). And it’s definitely useless against, say, a Big Daddy. I don’t actually do too badly shooting from the hip using the crosshairs, though.

   The whole game definitely has a System Shock vibe to it (obviously). Of course, the first time I came across a message written in blood on a wall, the first thing that popped into my head was “REMEMBER CITADEL.” Heehee. Sadly, no SHODAN, but one of the women you come across in the game has a voice not unlike Dr. Polito’s (at least, it was reminiscent to me).

   It sucks, because I want to sit here and blab about the game, but that’s no good since I’ve already gone through the game and know all the plot twists and what not! So I’ll have to bide my time until you and Reaper manage to get though the game.
