You Are Now Free to Move Around the World

I’m excited to announce that Apple received her United States passport this week. She had applied for it right after being awarded her citizenship in June, so we were a little surprised that it only took two months to get here — considering the huge backlog at the U.S. passport agency right now.

I was really blown away by the quality of the passport itself. My own passport dates back to 1998 (I originally applied for it just so I could go see her for the first time — awwwww), and by comparison, it looks like a kid’s toy. Apple’s is made of a heavier stock, has beautiful watermarked artwork that’s different on every page, quotes and imagery from American history, and a nice thermo-laminate coating on her photo and credentials page.

Her passport is also one of the newfangled ones with the RFID chip inside, which stores her pertinent info electronically. Whether that’s a good or a bad thing is up to your perception on the nature of privacy and security, but for the moment I have no realistic reason to be concerned.

You know what makes me happiest about this? That we can now wait in the same line together at immigration. I know, I’m such a sap. :)

Congrats to Apple on receiving your magic ticket that will allow you to travel the world!
