Oddball Update

BioShock has finally arrived! The Limited Edition packaging (pictured) is huge, and the Big Daddy figurine is quite heavy — overall it’s a pretty solid package for only $10 extra. The number of copies of the Limited Edition (for the Xbox 360, at least) was scaled way back due to cost, so if you haven’t already preordered one, it’s too late. I just got back from picking mine up.

Too bad my 360 is not here…otherwise you wouldn’t be reading this post, because I would be playing the game instead of writing it. But now, since my Xbox is on its way to McAllen, TX for repairs, I’ve installed System Shock 2 — plus all of the fan modifications like higher-res textures and extra campaigns — for a bit of old-school, Irrational Games style enjoyment before the big day finally arrives (albeit late) for me.

My boss, meanwhile, is another System Shock head from way back, and is returning to the ‘States from China next week. His first plan is to buy a new Xbox 360 (since he had his old one modded and will be leaving it in China). His second plan is to bring said 360 over to my house and play BioShock. So, even if I’m out a console for a while, at least I’ll get to play the game pretty soon.

For the moment, however, I’m off to the Von Braun. SHODAN needs her butt kicked one more time.
