We’ve arrived home safe and sound from our Asian expedition. Everything was just as we’d left it — no problems here at the house, the cars still started just fine, and all the electronic equipment is still working. In fact, I am amazed at the speed of my desktop computer — both from a CPU responsiveness standpoint, and from an Internet connectivity standpoint. I’ve really missed the performance, without even consciously realizing it.

The Deep Space Nine DVD boxed set that my sisters- and brother-in-law got me for my birthday works flawlessly in my DVD player, and the quality is excellent. Also, those new high definition TV channels I mentioned? We’ve got ‘em. In fact, Firefly is on Universal HD in thirty minutes. Ohhhh yeah baby. Interestingly though, I discovered that we already had ESPN2 HD. Guess that’s indicative of how often I found something interesting to watch on it.

Soon, I’ll be preparing tons of photos and uploading them to the gallery. We’ve got pics and videos from Thailand, China, the wedding, pandas…just loads of stuff. Tomorrow I get back to work (in fact I have an automated task to kick off overnight), and also have plans to run some errands — check cashing, water filter acquiring, cable modem swapping, etc. — which I’ll do in the GTO, just to make it all that much more worthwhile.

I’ll have more thoughts about the homecoming a little later, but suffice it to say, we’re back. And after not sleeping for 48 hours, we’re dead tired and will shortly be going to bed!
