Reaper, maybe we should do a trade -- I've never played Redemption. :)

Pooch: I was curious whether this would be another Deus Ex (Asian accent-wise) when I got to Chinatown, but I noticed that they mostly just dispensed with even trying to do Asian accents altogether (except for notable exceptions like Yukie). Which, I guess, is better than something horrible like Maggie Chow. Who, by the way, was voiced by Carolyn McCormick? Wow, is that weird as hell.

Another frustrating bug I encountered happened during that mission where you're down in the old sewer system that had been closed off, searching for the Nosferatu hideout. There's one part where some current takes you toward a big...chopping thing, and you have to jump out of the water before then. For some reason, I could not get out of the water. I spent literally 45 minutes reloading, reloading and reloading the game until I got lucky and my game character actually managed to jump out of the canal before getting crushed to death.

Yeah, that Chinese chick is totally Lei Fang in disguise! I half expected her to start kicking my ass. Bollocks, so Heather must die then, eh? Oh well, don't answer that. I'll go finish the game and find out for myself. ;)

Ooh, now going back to Redemption would be fun. That game was excellent. I can't believe I never actually picked up Bloodlines....

Don't get too attached to Heather. That's all I'm saying (if you ever go back to the game, that is).

The game was quite fun. And quite buggy (I remember one of the patches fixed an instance where, if you didn't have the patch applied, you actually had to go into the game's console and hack the game so you could advance and not die). And, of course, it ran like garbage on my machine some of the time. It's just a shame that most games anymore are all about release dates and rushed schedules, and as a result plenty of games come out now that are (at best) half-finished.

I just kind of wish that this game would have even made reference to Vampire: The Masquerade -- Redemption in some way, but I can also understand why the game developers didn't do that.

Additionally, while some of the Asian voice actors might not have been up to snuff in some areas, at least they weren't as bad as Maggie Chow in Deus Ex (fun fact: according to the IMDB, the actress who did Maggie Chow's voice is the same woman who plays the psychologist Dr. Olivet on Law & Order). That was some bad voice acting right there.

And the one girl in the Chinese dress in that screenshot looks totally like Lei Fang.
