Knight Project At An End
Almost three years exactly from the day it began, my self-appointed Knight Project is at an end. The car I picked up in Ohio in the fall of 2003 was delivered today to its new owner, the proprietor of Precision Motorsports of Florida, where it is destined to become the company’s official race car.
The pickup finally happened yesterday. A local bloke — a contractor for a regional auto transport company — showed up with a truck and a trailer, and we toiled for an hour and a half to get the Formula loaded onto it. Since the car wasn’t running, we had to winch it up onto the trailer bed, and the only winches available were these really low-tech hand-powered jobs that both broke twice during the course of the job and had to be repaired by the driver on the spot.
The driver also had a hell of a time finding anywhere to anchor the Formula to the trailer, and mentioned that of all the hundreds of cars he’s transported, this car was easily the biggest hassle he’s ever endured. Somehow I wasn’t that surprised, after everything I’ve been through with it myself.
Truck, trailer and Firebird all finally got underway about 90 minutes later, and that was that. I spoke to the buyer today and he received the car this morning around 11:00. He and his employees are pretty excited about getting to play around with it. I hope they succeed where I failed — and that they manage to turn it into the autocrossing car they plan for it to be. The buyer offered to send me some pictures later once they get further along.
Since Apple and I are moving soon, I used this newly-acquired space in my parents’ garage to store my GTO for the time being. In turn, we’re using the extra space in our own garage to store boxes full of packed housewares and stuff for the move.

My, you have had a couple of very eventful days. I hope everything has calmed down a little ( including you!) and things will progress less eventfully for a while
Cooooool !!!!
Now I have a new GTO in my garage. Only one question; where’s the keys???
They’re actually hanging out in the “secret place” next to your Trans Am keys, in case you want to take her for a spin.
