Knight Project At An End

Posted by Chief Oddball on Tuesday, September 26th, 2006 in Cars, Knight Project

Almost three years exactly from the day it began, my self-appointed Knight Project is at an end. The car I picked up in Ohio in the fall of 2003 was delivered today to its new owner, the proprietor of Precision Motorsports of Florida, where it is destined to become the company’s official race car.
The [...]

Exhausted, Yet Successful

Posted by Chief Oddball on Tuesday, September 26th, 2006 in Life, Rants

It’s been a pretty nerve-wracking day. The kind that leaves you exhausted. Fortunately, Apple and I succeeded in getting quite a lot accomplished today, and together we brought several unsolved issues to a close. Those issues include one impromptu emergency which occured this morning, and which, in retrospect, seems like it was [...]

Big Day

Posted by Chief Oddball on Monday, September 25th, 2006 in Life

Lots of stuff happening for me today. First, my new computer is coming via FedEx (it’s already out on the truck for delivery). This will spark a day-long setup and configuration fest, naturally. I ordered one of Intel’s new Core 2 Duo (Conroe) processors for this box, and am anxious to see [...]

More Robot Chicken

Posted by Chief Oddball on Thursday, September 21st, 2006 in Quick Takes, Randomness

Okay, we all know that YouTube rocks. I’ve posted a sketch from Robot Chicken on here before, but I just found another one today that’s too funny to miss. This is apparently the first episode of Robot Chicken. I still don’t exactly know what Robot Chicken is, but this stuff is hilarious.

“Sonic BOOM!”

Posted by Chief Oddball on Thursday, September 21st, 2006 in Headlines

This morning I happened to be awake around 6:15 a.m. when I heard a most freaky noise. It sounded like someone had taken a sledgehammer to the frame of our house — the windows and roof vibrated not once, but twice, and I could detect a very faint, bassy rumble from outside. As [...]

College Remnants: A Trip Down Memory Lane

Posted by Chief Oddball on Wednesday, September 20th, 2006 in Life, Randomness

I was cleaning out my office closet earlier this week (getting rid of some of my old college textbooks, many of which are now woefully outdated) when I came across a few interesting tidbits from yesteryear. As of late, I’ve been digitizing cassettes recorded between 1985 and 1998, and have thus had plenty of [...]

White and Nerdy

Posted by Chief Oddball on Wednesday, September 20th, 2006 in Media, Music, Quick Takes

This afternoon I found a link to a YouTube posting of Weird Al Yankovic’s latest parody song, “White and Nerdy.” It’s nothing short of hilarious. And, I might admit, more than a little representative of myself! The best rap/geek crossover song since “It’s All About The Pentiums,” this is sure to be [...]

This Is Why I Can’t Have Nice Things

Posted by Pooch on Monday, September 18th, 2006 in Computers, Rants

This week had started out so well, too.
This past weekend the Puffy singles and book (!) I ordered from YesAsia came in — sweet. Later this week, if all goes according to plan, my two Puffy CDs from CDJapan will ship. And this morning, what should come in the mail but the Puffy DVDs I [...]

Remastered TOS: “Balance of Terror” Impressions

Posted by Chief Oddball on Sunday, September 17th, 2006 in Media, Television

Last night our local UPN (err, sorry…”My Network TV”) affiliate aired the first of the remastered Star Trek: TOS episodes, “Balance of Terror.” Of course, I was up at 11:00 checking it out. What did I think of the upgraded appearance? Here are my impressions.
First of all, we have crappy analog cable. [...]

New House Pictures Online

Posted by Chief Oddball on Sunday, September 17th, 2006 in Life

We stopped by our new house this afternoon to take some pictures of the progress on its construction; Apple has kindly uploaded them to the Oddball Photo Gallery for your perusal. The roof is now installed, as are all of the windowsills, which means that county inspection can commence (if it hasn’t already). [...]
