This is SV7

Wave goodbye to V6. Oddball Update version 6, that is. Easily the shortest-lived design in Oddball history at a mere 48 days, it was retired earlier than expected due to complexity and browser incompatibilities. What originally started as a re-working of V6 to fix whatever problems people were experiencing with it turned into a full-blown redesign, which I call Oddball Update SV7, or, “Everything Old is New Again.”
Friends and family may recognize several elements of the new design, as one of my first blog sites on the Web used to look a lot like this — think of Oddball SV7 as a “remix.” Absolutely none of the actual artwork from my old site is used here as-is, with one exception: The background image of the mountains above. Even then, I went back to the original high-res version (which I unbelievably had the presence of mind of save) and recreated the purple-toned effect from scratch. And where my Ram Air Trans Am imposed its sinuous form on the original site’s masthead, now my GTO stands guard instead.
If you preferred the gray-on-white color scheme of Oddball V6, fear not. My site now includes theme switching capabilities, so you will shortly be able to select your own color scheme of choice. I decided to go with the eye candy first — I call the current theme “Plum Crazy” in a nod to the old Mopar machines, although I have to admit that during the design, its internal codename was simply “Purple!” I’ll be building a more neutral scheme akin to Oddball V6 in the coming days and will make an announcement when it’s ready.
The only functional casualty of the new design is that I dropped the “Live Search,” but I don’t think it added that much anyway. To make up for it, I’ve improved Wordpress’ innate search capability so that when you search for something in the archives, the results will show you snippets that actually include your search terms instead of just the first 50 words.
You know the drill: if you see anything that looks broken, let me know. Also, could folks who experienced browser issues with my previous design please report in — are you still having any problems?

WOW! Imagine my surprise when this very cool looking thing came up before me, when just last night I was seeing the V6 version! Just goes to show why you’re the most “in demand” young web guru in SW FLorida.
I must say, I like this lots better - very sophisticated color scheme. And I love the masthead - the tailights on the GTO are brilliantly sharp
Well done, you! (as they say in the UK!)
Thank you muchly! That’s how changes happen around here…overnight!
I appreciate the comments. The purple color scheme of my old website has always been one of my favorites, and that design was the only one I ever retired not because it had lost its lustre, but out of necessity, as I was moving to Oddball land and thus changing the site’s branding. Given all that, I decided a resurrection was in order.
The masthead was done before anything else on the site was even started, and it actually sat around for a week because I wasn’t in the “webbing” mindset for a while. The mood struck with a vengeance soon enough, and I finished putting the rest of the design together during the wee hours last night.
Got the car washed tonight too, so it’s been a very productive weekend.
