Mission Accomplished
Posted by Chief Oddball late at night on May 20th, 2006I think I managed to get more work done on Saturday than I did for the last several weekdays. Since this morning I’ve been trying to make some progress on my list of side work, and actually accomplished quite a bit. In fact, one entire project is now done. Tomorrow I’ll be starting on another — the one I had a meeting about on Friday. But I’m leaving tomorrow’s evening hours reserved for fun stuff, including having dinner with Apple at our favorite Mexican restaurant, and taking a new set of GTO photos.
Speaking of which, I got the GTO’s windows tinted on Thursday and the thing looks absolutely mean as hell. When we tinted Apple’s car, the darkest legal tint the shop carried was 35% so we got that all the way around. Her car is dark gray, so it looks fine. But on the black goat, I wanted more. Fortunately the shop now carries 30% film, so I went with that on the doors, and 20% on the side and rear windows. In all but the brightest midday light, it looks like the windows are painted gloss black. It’s totally sweet. I’m also glad I took out the third brake light from the rear deck, which allowed the shop to tint the whole rear window without a goofy-looking cutout for the lamp. Now you can’t even tell the third brake light exists unless it’s lit up.
I washed the car this evening and dusted the interior, and tomorrow after dinner I’m planning to snap some evening shots of the GTO with the new tint. There’s a professional complex near the restaurant I spoke about that I always thought would be perfect for some picture-taking, so we’re going to find out.
On an unrelated note, we learned today that the new community where we’re building our next home just got smaller by about 33 lots. The county rejected the builder’s permit request to develop phase three of the property and is requiring that the land in question remain undeveloped, at least for now. So our lot is going to be in a very cozy little corner indeed, with some nice preserve land at the end of the street. It’ll be quite a change, moving from a community with almost 2,000 homes to one with only 100!
More updates tomorrow.
