Your Wall is Too Dirty. PAY THE PIPER.

This is version 2.0 of this entry. Originally I wrote it while I was hella pissed, so of course it came out sounding more inflammatory than it needed to. Especially since this whole mess is my own fault. And I don’t really want that kind of entry languishing on the front page of this site during the time I’m on vacation, so I thought I’d revise it.

The long and short of it is, the HOA sent us a letter of complaint because the shared wall between our property and the neighbor’s property was too dirty, and ordered us to clean it within 15 days or they’d start fining us $50 a day. Since we’d be in Michigan for all of those 15 days—with the exception of today and tomorrow—we had to act fast, to say the least. Fortunately we got a reputable pressure cleaning guy to come over and clean up the wall almost immediately this afternoon, so that’s all done and taken care of. Now tomorrow I have to mail an official letter to the HOA saying I corrected the violation. Sheesh!

At this point I just hope that everything has been done “to their satisfaction.” In the letter I wrote that we’d be “out of the country and thus unreachable” (hey, we are going to Toronto, too) for the next two weeks, but that we would “happily” give any further attention necessary to this matter upon our return. Hope that keeps the wolves at bay for at least the duration of our trip. I’d hate to have the year’s only sizable vacation—for which I blew my last five “banked” days of carryover PTO—ruined by the shadow of modern socialism. I mean, community covenants. See, there I go with the snark again.
