Free Fridge!
We live in a housing community wherein each unit received its kitchen appliances (fridge, range, dishwasher, microwave) from General Electric at the time of construction. Roughly half of our community residents have had catastrophic problems with their GE refrigerators, including seal leaks, condenser failures, icemaker issues, moisture problems, and soforth. Recently one of our residents, a woman who’s had her fridge repaired 16 times and paid for it each time, started a crusade against GE. The goal was to get GE to acknowledge it was their fault for designing crappy fridges, and, hopefully, to repair or replace certain models free-of-charge.
I saw notice posted in the town center last night that GE has finally relented, and will be replacing 625 model GSS22 refrigerators for free throughout the community, at a major cost to them. Excitedly, I went home and noticed that our noisy, crummy fridge was indeed a model GSS22. Sweet merciful crap! A free fridge!
I’m going to stop at my parents’ house after work and see which model fridge they have, because they too might be entitled to a replacement. But this is already some great news for us. Now we have to wait for GE to send us our official letter, which it’s said could take a while, but I’m willing to wait. Talk about improving the kitchen experience—and the home’s resale value.
