Holy crap! I’ve just come from watching the first TV-series episode of Babylon 5, and it is far and away LOADS better than the pilot movie (“The Gathering”) which I watched last night. First of all, the casting is markedly improved. Lt. Cmdr. Ivanova is just kickass, unlike the waffle she replaced (Takashima, who I spoke of poorly in an earlier post). The new telepath is suitably mysterious without being so damn “NINETIES!” like her predecessor, and Captain Sheridan…? The man is the second coming of Kirk, I tell you. He threatens to blow ambassadors away, goes into an armed conflict fighting, knows how to get nasty without looking dopy like Quantum…oh yes, this is going to be a goooood show.
