OU Feature Tweak
There have been a few functionality tweaks I’ve wanted to give to the Oddball Update, so in the next few days you should (hopefully) be seeing these new features coming online. Yeah, it’s minor stuff, but here’s da list:
Google Query Highlighter …That was too easy.
If people get here via Google, their search terms will be highlighted. A message will also be displayed, advising them to use the site search in case they don’t find what they’re looking for. Since Google oftentimes indexes only my home page because my permalink URLs aren’t spider-friendly, sometimes people get here thinking they’re gonna see something, and that entry may have disappeared into the archives weeks prior. I saw that a lot on my old site, too.
Entry Author …Finito!
Since I’ve recently given two of my most active (and creative) visitors the right to post new articles to this site, I need to add a field to each entry displaying who authored it.
Greet Users by Display Name …And done!
You may have noticed that the login bar (right underneath the masthead) displays “Hello, <username>” when you are logged in. It should really show your display name, not your username.
Might add some other stuff if I think of it. Oh, the Classic Gold skin needs a new masthead pic, too. And, uh, the skin itself needs to be taken out of beta, I guess.
