Suspended Due To Unpaid Bill
So I figured out what was going on with that former client of mine. His website was suspended, he discovered (after finally getting the hosting company on the phone), for non-payment of the monthly fee. I’m not quite sure what’s going on there, because the client claims he pre-paid for a year’s worth of hosting. And indeed, this cancellation comes about three months after the account was created, so if he was on the monthly plan, wouldn’t he have been booted off in January or February at the latest?
One thing’s for sure: I’m not going to be the one arriving at the answer. The client set up the webspace account, not me, and this guy never keeps any records. His “personal assistant”—a rather spacey blonde woman—casually said to me once that “Oh, all of my email goes away after three days.” (She’s letting AOL expunge all read mails after three days to save space. Probably doesn’t even know that setting can be changed.) So obviously no electronic receipts exist. If they’re lucky, they still have the credit card statement from the month in question, but they seem to change their credit card numbers more often than most people change their clothes.
Anyway, I sent him the password that he needed, so we’ll see where this goes. (Hopefully somewhere else so I can forget it ever happened.)
