Miami Bound!

So tomorrow I’m not going in to work—yay for me, right? Except for the fact that the reason I’m not going is because Apple and I are going to the INS office in Miami instead. Booooo. Well, fortunately, the INS has smartened up since we last saw their smiling faces—now, you can book appointments ahead of time, and actually get there within fifteen minutes of your time. No more standing in the long line of refugees outside the building at 6 a.m., while the security guards threaten you and verbally smack you around, separate you from your loved ones and herd you across busy streets like cattle. And that’s how they treat U.S. citizens!

No matter. Tomorrow’s little INS vacation will be a lot less complicated than usual, and for that I’m glad. In fact, it’ll be good to get this stuff done. Because we have a 1:00 p.m. appointment, we don’t have to get up any earlier than usual in order to make it. Additionally, since we don’t have to wait in line so stinkin’ early, we don’t have to drive over the night before and stay in a hotel room. I really have to thank the Miami office for creating the whole Internet appointment system. It was a surprisingly good idea.

Once we get through tomorrow, Apple should hopefully have two things: First, a new stamp in her passport allowing her to leave and re-enter the country, and second, as an idea of when her green card will finally be ready. After that, we’ll grab some lunch and head home—and have a nice weekend to look forward to. Sounds like a good plan to me.

In other news, my wife and I both agreed on the plan I posted here yesterday, regarding trading in my Trans Am for whatever car she’s going to get next year. To tell you the truth, this plan actually works quite well for me. Now I’ve just got to get the Formula’s problems fixed up.

But I’m not taking a job designing a “rapper wear” website to pay for ‘em!
