Entry Level Recall
Posted by Chief Oddball late at night on February 19th, 2004Well, perhaps this expensive lesson will teach GM to be more careful about selling rebadged Korean crap buckets: GM tells dealers to stop selling new Aveo entry-level car
The Chevrolet Aveo, a Korean-built, entry-level compact that conjures up lucid memories of the Daihatsu Charade (yes, that was the car’s real name), was part of Chevy’s big unveiling of ten new “revolutionary” models this year.
The media doesn’t yet seem to know why GM has ordered sales of Aveo to be halted (and delivery of all previously ordered cars to be stopped), but it can’t be cheap for the world’s largest automaker. If this is a safety-related recall, it would be the fourth this month alone, with a running total so far of more than 2.5 million vehicles.
Come on, GM. You’re slipping again. This isn’t the eighties.
