Oh Yeah. Money.
Posted by Chief Oddball in the early morning on November 19th, 2003Over the last few days, I’ve started to become a bit worried—okay, perhaps “paranoid” would be a more accurate word—about the magazine publisher whose website I recently built. I’ve been getting some strange vibes from the guy, to the point where I was worried he wasn’t going to pay me for my efforts (at least, not in a timely fashion). Fortunately for me, the site is still nowhere except my local hard drive, and since the last modicum of leverage I have in terms of getting paid is the actual deployment of the website, I went into the guy’s office today and said that I have a friendly policy of not releasing websites to a client’s server until all invoices are paid in full.
So, the guy took out the company checkbook and paid my invoices. In full.
WOO HOO! MONEY! It’s nice to see your hard work pay off, let me tell you. I’m used to clients who pay invoices in little dribbles of twenty here and forty there. This was much sweeter. I promptly came home and ordered $236 worth of brand new Bosch fuel injectors for KITT from Five-O Motorsport in California. In the coming days, I’m using the remainder of that money to buy KITT a new exhaust system. I’m still thinking Gale Banks Powerpack, assuming I can find one. I hear they sell them at Entec Performance, but Entec doesn’t seem to have a website. Only a mysterious toll-free number. Still, they come highly recommended over at the ThirdGen.org boards.
Mister magazine guy also owes me a cash bonus, plus approximately four additional hours of work that I started tonight (adding a “voting booth” where site visitors can vote for their favorite bikini babe from this past weekend’s model search). Put that together, and I’ll get KITT’s pesky suspension-related issues taken care of before the end of the year. Cross another item off the list! Yeah!
