And So The Project Begins
Posted by Chief Oddball in the wee hours of October 31st, 2003The official beginnings of the Knight Project are occurring today! This morning one of my web clients dropped off a check (under the windshield wiper, as usual) so I’m going to stop at Advance Auto Parts after work and pick up a couple of parts. I’m going to be doing some work on the car this weekend, mainly involving the leaky roof, but I also have some other little things that need to get done, and which I can do cheaply and easily.
I’ve already made a list of stuff I need. Tonight’s “shopping list” consists of two Strong Arm 4900 gas charged lift supports for the rear hatch, a package of Sylvania 2057LL taillight bulbs, and a tube of black RTV silicone. I thought I had a spare 2057 bulb at home already, but it turns out it was a 3057. (Curious, since nothing I own uses it).
I only just recently bitched about Advance Auto Parts, because it seemed like their parts inventory was rapidly and continually shrinking. Turns out, however, that they’re just stashing more and more parts behind the counter where you can’t get to ‘em. Poking around their website and checking what their retail stores carry, I was pleasantly surprised to note that they stock all kinds of stuff for KITT—even a replacement headlight switch, which I have a feeling is the root cause of my “sometimes the headlights don’t close for a few seconds” problem. Guess they’re not so bad after all.
BTW, as an aside, as soon as I can get my new Knight Project website finished, I’m going to stop posting about the car on here. I know you’re probably all tired of hearing about it. So instead, all project-related entries will be exclusively on the new website. I’ll go back to talking about stupid drivers, games and other stuff around these parts, I suppose!
