Comcast Increases Download Speed
For some time, Comcast (my cable Internet provider) has been promising to nearly double our downstream speed from 1.8 megabits to 3 megabits. I’ve had my eye on this for several months now, but nothing has shown up. Today, finally, the long-awaited change occurred.
Southwest Florida is a relatively new area in Comcast’s high-speed Internet infrastructure, which was why I wasn’t surprised when practically every other area of the country started getting the increased speeds before we did. But this morning I saw a post on the Broadband Reports Comcast forum from a neighboring town, stating the speed increase had arrived. One modem power-cycle later, and I was downloading at 390 kilobytes per second.
Way to go Comcast!
